Britney Spears Undergoes Mental Evaluation

From riches to rags. Britney Spears, once one of the most promising pop singers in America, was hospitalized late Thursday night and recommended a minimum of 72-hour lockdown for mental evaluation after she locked herself up in a room with her one-year-old son, Jayden.

According to reports, the troubled star, who was granted monitored visitation rights with her two sons in October last year, was scheduled to give the boys over to her ex-husband and children’s father Kevin Federline at 7 p.m. Thursday. However, she locked herself up in a room with Jayden at her Studio City home and refused to hand him over to Federline.

The police was informed of the situation by the monitor and after a four hour stand-off the cops got through the door and strapped Spears down to a gurney. Amidst a huge crowd of media, Spears was stretchered out of her home and shuttled to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in an ambulance.

Based on Associated Press reports, attorneys for Spears and Federline were in court Friday for a closed-door meeting.
